Go to Ebay.com and get your own Ebay Store (-to post your items on ). Ebay charges for their service based upon the "bells and whistles" you want ( -from simple "Seller's  Hubs" to nearly everything-done-for-you "Ebay Valet" ). Determine which level of service you want and sign-up. Then, take note of any garage/ estate sales or auctions occurring in your neighborhood. Attend them and snag the items you feel will sell best on your Ebay store.

Between sales and auctions -visit nearby antique and thrift stores. The more you do the sharper you'll get. And consulting books and websites on the topic of antiques, collectibles and such couldn't hurt either! Even watching a few episodes of "Antiques Road Show" might give you some hints. Pay attention to what's "hot" and trending in the field and you'll know what to buy.  

Ebay reselling is a great way for family and friends to share time doing something they enjoy. Something that's both fun and profitable! For example, a pair of thrifty sisters who enjoy "couponing" and "bargain-hunting" could join forces and start an Ebay store -selling their "finds" online ( -turning their spare time into cash! ). Similarly, families ( -from kids to teens ) can "specialize" in items that appeal to their particular age groups -posting them to "target" specific shopping "age groups". The possibiities are nearly endless!
